Michael John Steele

The family of the late Michael John Steele are saddened to announce that Michael passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on 6th September 2026, aged 89 years.

A much loved Dad to Clare and the late Jason, and a cherished Grandad to Jack and Matthew.

Michael was the beloved husband of the late Maureen Steele, who sadly passed away in 2009. After 17 years apart, they are now reunited once more, together again, just as they should be.

Michael lived a full and meaningful life and was a man who found great pride in his work and in helping others. He worked for many years as a Quality Engineer, before retiring and beginning a new chapter as a volunteer with the Staffordshire Ambulance Service. It was a role he spoke of with great affection and often described as “the best job he has ever done.” His compassion, humour and willingness to give his time to others made it especially dear to him.

He was also a keen golfer and enjoyed many happy years as a member of Drayton Park Golf Club, where he made lasting friendships and enjoyed one of his favourite pastimes.

Michael will be remembered most of all for the love he had for his family, the memories he created with them, and the kindness he showed to those around him.

He leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will be treasured forever.

Michael’s funeral service will take place on Thursday 8th October at Sutton Coldfield Crematorium, 12.15pm.

There are no donations please however flowers are warmly welcomed.
