Iris Lawley (MBE)

1931 ~ 2025

In loving memory of Iris who sadly passed away on 29th October 2025 at Caldwell Grange surrounded by her loving family, an adored Mum, Auntie, Gran & Grandma she will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her. Now reunited with her beloved Husband Joe, Son Kenneth & Granddaughter Buttercup.

Iris was a remarkable lady who supported many bereaved families after co-founding the charity The Compassionate Friends in 1969, the organization grew internationally and  in 1994 Iris was awarded an MBE by Queen Elizabeth II for her work with the organization. Through her own personal bereavement, Iris channelled her own grief into helping other parents and families showing just how special she was.

A Funeral service will take place on Tuesday 25th November 202, 2pm at The Heart of England Crematorium to celebrate Iris’s life, following the service you are welcome to join the family at The Meldor Suite, Avenue Road, Nuneaton, CV11 4JT for refreshments and to share further memories.
